BERLIN (AURORA ENERGY RESEARCH)—With the Aurora Renewables & Battery Summit Berlin 2024 just around the corner, Aurora Energy Research, the world’s largest dedicated power market analytics provider, is delighted to announce Philipp Nimmermann, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs & Climate Action, as a keynote speaker.

Joining the State Secretary are Aurora Energy Research experts and distinguished speakers including Katja Wünschel, CEO, RWE Renewables Europe & Australia; Philipp Heilmaier, Head of Division, Future of Energy Supply, dena; Anna von Bremen, Partner and Head of Energy Innovation, Osborne Clarke; and more.

Titled “After the Energy Crisis: Prospects for Renewables and Batteries in Germany,” the Aurora Renewables & Battery Summit Berlin is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 28 May 2024.

Attendees can expect panel discussions on key market trends as well as challenges and tensions, ranging from ensuring grid access to establishing the right incentives for renewables and batteries to operate in a system-friendly manner. The Summit aims to analyse and discuss business cases for batteries, both as standalone entities and when co-located, as well as the regulatory changes needed for their full use. The event will also tackle the financing puzzle, especially with the rapid drop in carbon and gas prices, a big change from the past years.

With more than 250 attendees expected, the Aurora Renewables & Battery Summit will serve as a gathering ground for leading utilities, policymakers, investors, and other key stakeholders in the energy sector, fostering engaging discussions and valuable networking opportunities.

Hanns Koenig, Managing Director, Central Europe at Aurora Energy Research, commented:

“With the energy crisis over and power prices returning to relatively normal levels, new challenges arise for renewables and batteries: How do we make business cases work amidst increasingly competitive EEG auctions and lower PPA prices? What are the benefits from co-locating batteries? And where do opportunities for batteries extend beyond ancillary services? We are excited to have State Secretary Philipp Nimmermann and around 300 industry experts to discuss these and many related topics at this year’s Aurora’s Renewables and Battery Summit Berlin.”

The event is supported by Osborne Clarke and Entrix. Energate is Aurora Renewables & Battery Summit Berlin’s media partner.
