Working at the heart of the energy transition, Aurora is at the forefront of energy market thinking, modelling and analysis.

Combining in-depth policy experience with knowledge of academic research in energy, the environment, and finance, we bring deep insights and understanding to help business and governments navigate the energy transition.

Bright economists, engineers and programmers from the world’s best universities make up our team.

Our culture is entrepreneurial, dynamic, and progressive. Underpinned by strongly-held values and based on a passionate commitment to independent research, we always strive to go to the next level in our analysis and service for our clients. Our people are domain experts and thought-leaders who challenge conventional wisdom and take pride in the quality, accuracy and independence of their research.

We strive to make an impact and be part of research that matters – research which influences the energy transition and policy debate. Our people value the early responsibility they get, and the challenging and interesting nature of the work they are involved in.

Women@Aurora

Women@Aurora, established in 2018, is a resource group led by employees here at Aurora Energy Research. The group is designed to support the development of women within the company, ensure Aurora remains a great place for women to work, and acts as a network for sharing resources. The group strives to:

  • Meet with colleagues in other offices;
  • Organise events such as breakfast socials and career training;
  • Volunteer and support local charities;
  • Invite external speakers and encourage staff to attend industry events; and
  • Partner with university societies to inspire more women to enter the energy industry.

Since 2022, the group has been guided by a steering committee and led by self-nominated representatives from each office.

Women at Aurora Energy Research

In addition to internal initiatives, we encourage attendance at networking events for women in energy, including those run by the Women’s Utilities Network (WUN) who arrange fantastic events to develop the skills of women in energy and utilities. Hayley Monks, a WUN founder and Managing Director of Think, Inspire and Create, also came to speak to us about the power of personal branding, the art of negotiation and effective networking.

Embracing Diversity

We have an international outlook and are proud of our global team, with colleagues from more than 20 countries. Life at Aurora is therefore being part of a breadth of cultural and regional backgrounds and personal experience.

It is important to us that our working environment is always interesting and stimulating, and colleagues can share knowledge and skills at an open table.

Aurora Pride

At Aurora, we believe in providing an environment where everyone can be themselves. Our internal employee network, Aurora Pride, provides a forum for LGBTQIA+ people and allies to share their experiences. We organise regular socials for LGBTQIA+ people and allies to discuss how to best support the community at Aurora and beyond.

“It’s encouraging to see other queer people succeeding in all areas of the company, and although the group is fairly new, it already feels like there is a great network of support.” —Graduate Analyst

The Aurora Pride group aims to support the people within the company on a professional and social level. This is to ensure that people at Aurora feel there is a sense of community and to help raise awareness around LGBTQIA+ issues in the workplace.

Social Life

We are a sociable community, holding regular cultural, sporting and fun events and outings. The rapport between our people is key to us being our best, and our offices focus on bringing people together.

Our Aurora Fun Committee organises art lessons, pub quizzes, The AER Factor talent show, a murder mystery, and much more!

In the office, we look after our people, providing a fresh supply of fruit, snacks, coffee, and beer and pizza for our Friday afternoon meetings, finishing the week on a high.
