Enabling the Transition: the Investment Case for Batteries in Italy

By February 2, 2022March 29th, 2022Insight, Flexible Energy & Storage, Italy

The ambitious decarbonisation targets set at the European and national levels require significant growth of renewables capacity. In order to properly integrate the rising renewables capacity in the system, massive deployment of flexible capacity will be needed to provide the necessary grid services and absorb the overgeneration from renewables.

Until recently the pipeline for battery projects in Italy consisted only of a few pilot projects. The expected opening of the ancillary services market and the possibility for batteries to access new capacity remunerations schemes have increased the business opportunities and sparked interest in investments in this space.

In this webinar, we dive into the potential for batteries investments in the Italian market, presenting the profitability drivers of the different potential revenue streams and modelling several investment scenarios across Italy.
