What we look for

If you are a final-year undergraduate, postgraduate, or recent graduate with a strong academic record and meet the requirements below, you could be the right fit for our São Paulo Graduate Modelling Program!
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and analytical ability
  • An ability to collect, analyze, and interpret complex quantitative data and information
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player attitude
  • Knowledge of one programming language, e.g. C++, Matlab, Python, R, Java
  • Motivation for driving the green energy transition
  • Evidence of fluency in English (required)

We highly value candidates with a relevant Master’s degree or PhD and a solid understanding and interest in energy markets. Desirable skills also include excellent Python programming abilities and knowledge of statistical and/or mathematical optimization techniques.

During our São Paulo Graduate Modelling Program, our graduates have various opportunities for growth and development, including:

  • Undergoing thorough training on our modeling methodology and the energy markets we model
  • Contributing to the development of some of the most advanced energy market models in the industry
  • Playing a key role in the long-term enhancement of our modeling suite, improving the accuracy, quality, and value of our results
  • Helping develop our Software Solutions models, such as Origin and Chronos
  • Participating in live client projects as the technical modeling expert
  • Being part of a like-minded, supportive, and ambitious graduate community

About the Modeling Team

Our Modeling team develops and maintains the models that power our software solutions, such as Chronos and Origin. The models are built with best practices in modern software engineering design and utilize advanced mathematical optimization techniques to simulate global power markets accurately.

Upon successful completion of the São Paulo Graduate Modeling Program, you will be offered a full-time position in the Modeling team.

Our Modelers work closely with the Research, Advisory, Software Solutions, and Software Development departments to both construct and apply our models to various markets.

Our application process is designed to understand your competencies, strengths, and motivations for the programme, but it is also an opportunity for you to learn more about us! Application Tips

Online Application

Apply online by submitting your CV/resume and answering application questions that explore your motivation for working in the energy sector and your interest in joining Aurora Energy Research.

1st Interview

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a live 1:1 virtual interview featuring qualitative and quantitative questions.

2nd Interview

Successful candidates will be invited to participate in virtual or in-person 2nd round interviews. During these sessions, candidates will be presented with a 1.5 hour conversation-style interview with a few quantitative problem-solving questions.

3rd Interview

In the final stage of the application process, successful candidates will attend a final in-person interview at the Aurora office. The interview will centre around the candidate’s team fit and overall motivation to work at Aurora.

Results

Once the interviews are completed and the results are analyzed, our Early Careers team will inform you of the outcome.
The Early Careers team will keep you updated throughout the recruitment process and let you know when to expect the final decision.
