About the Malaysian energy market
Malaysia’s electricity mix is dominated by fossil fuels, with coal and gas contributing about 45% and 35% to its electricity supply respectively. As the government explores alternative power sources, it is pushing for the growth of solar, with schemes such as the Large Scale Solar. The early decommissioning of multiple coal and gas plants over the coming decades will also change Malaysia’s electricity mix.
