Singapore currently relies on the import of natural gas to generate more than 90% of its electricity needs. It is importing more liquified natural gas with a shrinking pipeline gas supply. As Singapore aims to move away from its dependence on gas, it is growing its solar sector through rooftop and floating solar. However, with land constraints, the import of low-carbon electricity from neighbouring countries presents itself as an attractive alternative.
