We are pleased to invite you to our Public Webinar, “Navigating the New Wave of Renewables in Iberia“, which will take place on Friday 30 June 2023 from 11:00–12:00 CEST.

Both Spain and Portugal have ambitious decarbonisation goals targeting 74% and 80% of electricity generation from renewables, respectively, however uncertainty remains over the amount of renewable capacity that will be installed in Iberia by 2030. Additionally, the updated National Climate Plans, scheduled to be finalised by the end of June, are expected to result in more ambitious renewables and green hydrogen targets. In anticipation of increased renewables buildout following these updates and the mass approval of over 73 GW of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) in Iberia, we will explore some of the key uncertainties in our forecast around renewable buildout. We will apply sensitivities over the renewable build out in our Central Scenario until 2030 and examine the measures required to mitigate the impact on capture prices.

In the session, we will discuss the following key questions:

• Which barriers remain with the government’s plans for accelerating renewables buildout now that so many projects have received a positive EIA?
• How will an increase in renewable capacity affect capture prices in the short and long-term?
• How is the system expected to respond to a short-term acceleration of renewable buildout? How can developers mitigate the impact of lower capture prices?
