Brazilian Market Outlook

The Brazilian National Interconnected System (SIN) has witnessed substantial price fluctuations in the past 5 years. Short-term prices have oscillated between the maximum regulated price of R$583/MWh in July–August 2021 and the minimum regulated price of R$69/MWh in 2022–2023.

As the power market liberalises and the country undergoes a surge in solar and wind capacity, the inherent fluctuations in hydro reservoirs contribute to escalating uncertainty in prices. In this context of uncertainty, our meeting aims to offer an inaugural outlook for Brazilian power prices.

During this session, our market experts will be answering the following questions:

  • How does the largest electricity market in Latin America work?
  • What is our Central view for power prices out to 2060 in Brazil?
  • How will capture prices for renewables develop as more wind and solar capacity is installed?
  • What is a sensible Low case for project finance?

If you have any questions, please get in touch with Priscila Vellano.
