Power & Renewables Forecast for SPP

In recent years, we have seen a surging interest from developers in SPP, with over 100 GW of projects currently in SPP’s interconnection queue. Growth in SPP shows no signs of slowing, with reserve margin requirements set to increase and SPP’s generation mix evolving due to the ongoing retirement of coal plants and installation of natural gas and renewable generation.

In this session, we will share our first Power & Renewables Forecast for SPP. The analysis will:

• Interrogate how ongoing market-driven and policy-driven factors are impacting SPP’s load growth and generation mix on a regional basis within SPP;
• Assess the expected evolution of SPP’s total capacity and breakdown by generation source;
• Evaluate the expected regional breakdown of ATC wholesale prices, spreads, and resource adequacy prices through 2050; and
• Undertake sensitivity analyses for multiple scenarios that could impact generation mix, capacity, pricing, and spreads on a regional basis within SPP.
