Webinar details:

[Part 1] Oct 16, 2024 10:00 (PHT) | Powering the Future: The Philippines’ Energy Evolution

Join our team for our webinar series opener as they run through some of the highlights from our Philippine Power & Renewable Market Forecast which provides a comprehensive energy market overview of key policies and developments to date, primarily focusing on outcomes in the Wholesale Energy Spot Market (WESM) under 5 scenarios.

Key focus areas discussed in this webinar will include:

  • Recent updates to energy policies and target programs to encourage renewable energy installations.
  • Overview of recent updates to our scenarios—including revisions to upcoming GEAP rounds, commodity prices, sub-regional capacity limits, regional demand, etc.
  • Capacity and generation projection to 2060 for our Central Scenario, taking into consideration transmission limits of the current grid and future upgrades.
  • Key WESM prices outcomes—including average prices, renewable capture prices, seasonal price variation, intraday price spreads and shapes.
  • Sensitivity analysis across commodity prices, demand, renewable CAPEX, hydro inflows, and grid delays.
Part 1: Register for webinar on Oct 16, 2024 10:00 (PHT)

[Part 2] Oct 30, 2024 10:00 (PHT) | Storing Success: The Economics of Energy Storage in the Philippines

In this session, our Philippines team will deep dive into battery economics in the Philippines, leveraging our experience in undertaking numerous battery valuations projects in the region to explore key sensitivities to understand the range of potential outcomes for new build battery assets.

Key focus areas discussed in this webinar will include:

  • Overview of recent historical results in the wholesale and Reserve Markets
  • Analysis of battery revenue stacks and asset configurations/technical parameters/warranty conditions
  • Forecast outcomes in wholesale and Reserve Markets—including deep dives on intraday price spreads and saturation of Reserve Markets as battery penetration increases
  • Optimal dispatch of battery assets into merchant markets and asset-specific gross margin/revenue forecasts
  • Key scenarios/sensitivities that have a material impact on battery economics—e.g., changes to wheeling charge levels over time, increased/ reduced battery penetration over the short-term, gas prices
Part 2: Register for webinar on Oct 30, 2024 10:00 (PHT)

[Part 3] Nov 13, 2024 10:00 (PHT) | Grid Dynamics: Navigating Nodal Prices and Curtailment in the Philippines with power flow transmission modeling

In the final session of the series, we explore our in-house granular power flow transmission model for the Philippines, which has allowed us to forecast nodal prices and curtailment for specific assets in the Philippines by replicating real flows and constraints in the system over time. These grid scenarios are internally consistent with the market scenarios in our Philippine Power & Renewables Market Forecast.

Key focus areas discussed in this webinar will include:

  • Overview of grid regulation and rules that drive nodal prices and curtailment in the Philippines
  • Explanation of our grid modeling methodology
  • Examples of nodal prices and asset-specific curtailment outcomes for wind, solar, storage assets in key regions within the Philippines
  • Key sensitivities that have a material impact on grid outcomes—e.g., new transmission augmentation, renewable overbuild, evolution of sub-regional demand
Part 3: Register for webinar on Nov 13, 2024 10:00 (PHT)
