From Brazil to Europe: The Renewable Hydrogen Opportunity

Brazil is a step closer to establishing its National Low Carbon Emission Hydrogen Policy, with the Senate’s approval of PL 2308/2023 on June 19. The draft, yet to be re-discussed in Congress, aims to create a framework for certification, market development, subsidies, and tax incentives, but it differs from the European legislation in its definitions and criteria.

As Europe turns to imported hydrogen to meet its ambitious climate goals, Brazil’s abundant renewable resources present a unique opportunity to become a major supplier of renewable hydrogen.
