Aurora appoints BEIS Director Dan Monzani

Critical energy market analytics provider Aurora Energy Research today announces the appointment of Dan Monzani as the company’s Managing Director for UK and Ireland.

Departing from his current role as Director for Energy Security, Networks & Markets at the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Dan will join Aurora in September to lead the team supporting major industry and investment clients in the UK and Ireland.

Dan has worked in UK government for 18 years and held a number of previous senior energy roles in BEIS and the Cabinet Office prior to his most recent position where he has been responsible for policy and analytical advice to senior government ministers on energy systems & market design.

The news follows Aurora’s October announcement of investment from CGE Partners and 22C Capital, and the appointment of former Wood Mackenzie CEO Steve Halliday as Chair of the Board, bringing together key resources and expertise for the company’s growth. Aurora has grown rapidly in recent months, providing unique data analytics to energy markets through in-depth expertise and bespoke modelling.

Dan Monzani commented:

“I’m delighted to be joining the team at Aurora. I have always been impressed with the depth, quality and clarity of Aurora’s analysis and insight. This is an exciting time for the energy market in UK and Ireland where data-driven intelligence has never been more important. I’m looking forward to working with some of the leading businesses in the sector who are transforming how energy is produced, distributed and used in the UK and Ireland.”

John Feddersen, Founder and CEO of Aurora commented:

“We are excited to welcome Dan to Aurora’s global leadership team. Dan’s reputation as one of the most impactful leaders in UK energy policy has been built on his depth of thought, clarity of communication, and track record of practical implementation. In this newly-created role Dan will enhance our ability to support clients seamlessly across subscription, advisory and software services in GB and Ireland.”
