Payroll Manager

Position

In this newly created role, the Payroll Manager is responsible for a wide range of payroll tasks in a fast-paced and changing environment.

You will sit in the Finance team, reporting to the Head of Finance with as well as the Head of People and Culture (P&C), you will proactively manage the day-to day payroll processes, working closely with our Global Reward & Benefits Manager, local P&C reps and multi-location external payroll providers. Additionally, you will identify and implement improvement opportunities, both strategic and operational.

We are looking for someone who can work independently, is used to navigating a matrixed international environment and can hit the ground running.

Key responsibilities

  • Fully manage and maintain the payroll function across all Aurora’s global offices to ensure the accurate and timely payment of employees. This includes checking and signing off payroll) each month prior to submission to the outsourced payroll providers based in the UK, EMEA, APAC and NORAM.
  • Monthly preparation and submission of payroll related journals and reconciliation
  • Responsible for payroll audits and ensuring legislative compliance
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations (and local equivalents) and provide support and expert advice to the business on payroll and income tax legislation.
  • Liaise with HMRC (and local equivalents) and with third party payroll providers and social agencies (where relevant).
  • Statutory reporting and returns including P60s, P11ds and PAYE Settlement Agreement (UK); and the review of compliance with external consultant on locations outside of UK.
  • Leading the set up and creation of new payrolls for new markets and legal entities.
  • Provide appropriate reports, liaise with relevant external regulatory bodies as required.
  • Working closely with our global Reward & Benefits Manager to ensure that all pension enrolment and salary sacrifice schemes are appropriately administered and reported, along with employee expense management and leave/absence management.
  • Working with the global P&C team to maintain employee records; ensure that employee changes are entered correctly and made on a timely basis; review changes for proper authorization.
  • Be the initial point of contact for all Payroll queries.
  • Payroll project management – research and recommend merging payrolls to produce efficiencies and to successfully implement these changes.

Required attributes

  • Experience in UK payroll end-to-end statutory processes
  • Working knowledge of an international payroll function and processes for tax, social security and statutory elements for European countries and/or the US is a plus.
  • Experience with reconciliation of reports, liaison with external regulatory bodies
  • Experience of administering employee benefit deductions within statutory parameters
  • Strong ability to maintain confidentiality and understanding of GDPR requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and be a logical thinker.
  • Advanced experience of using Excel; ability to analyse data
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong initiative, creative and solutions driven
  • Self-motivated and resourceful
