Operations Manager – One year parental leave replacement


In this role, the Operations Manager will cover a maternity leave and is responsible for overseeing the internal operations of our Berlin office. You have a critical role to play in ensuring you and your team successfully support the operational elements of implementing Aurora’s strategic plans. To do so, you’ll work in close partnership with the Operational leadership team and coach, mentor and develop the Operational team to deliver exceptional business service.

The successful candidate will be a proven people manager and business operator with demonstrable change management experience. You’ll have a track record of operational excellence, implementing new solutions that contribute towards the efficient operation and growth of the business. You’ll be motivated by driving best practice and high-quality performance standards across the business.

With a track record of rapid growth, Aurora’s Berlin office will continue this trajectory, and the Operations team will continue to grow simultaneously which will bring new challenges along the way.

Key responsibilities

  • People management, including hiring, training, and performance reviews
  • Regular reporting/ updates to senior management
  • Leadership, mentoring and professional development of Operations team members
  • Oversee and maintain office efficiency by maintaining appearance and uninterrupted function of common areas and office equipment, coordinating all facilities requirements, including responsibility for health and safety measures
  • Manage all aspects of the office’s space/infrastructure planning (including but not limited to office moves and changes to desk/workstation layout) providing solutions as needed
  • Identify and fulfil office supply needs, cultivating, and managing supplier relationships
  • Working in an international business environment and building strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business
  • Responsibility for preparing and owning the Berlin non-pay budget, proposing ad-hoc budget requests when necessary

Required attributes

  • At least three years’ relevant experience across multiple roles, potentially but not necessarily in project management, finance, consulting, start-ups, or other relevant industry track
  • Proven track record showing high performance, initiative, and leadership
  • Self-starter who sees what needs to get done and does it, delegating and drawing in others where necessary
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to summarise data into Management Information
  • Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility to changing priorities, deadlines and demands
  • Strong commercial and financial awareness, with working knowledge and experience with contracts and contract negotiations
  • Experience of project management / continuous improvement with solutions-based thinking
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and remain motivated
  • Very good knowledge (C1 level) of both German and English is essential
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office suite

Desirable attributes

  • Advanced Excel knowledge
  • Good knowledge of German employment law
  • Good knowledge of German accountancy and financial processes
  • Experience of working with an ERP system
