Overview of the PacifiCorp Integrated Resource Plan Update

Key takeaways from the report include the following:

  • In response to a relaxed regulatory environment, PacifiCorp delayed the retirement of multiple coal-fired plants and scrapped plans to add emissions controls to existing facilities. The utility also plans to add 5 GW of new gas peaking capacity.
  • PacifiCorp cut 4.1 GW of solar and 4.2 GW of storage from its preferred portfolio through 2042. This is 53% less than it had planned to procure through 2037 in the 2023 IRP.
  • PacifiCorp’s 2022 RFP, seeking nearly 1.9 GW of solar and battery storage capacity, has been canceled.
