We are pleased to present our GB Renewables monthly market summary results from April 2021. Highlights include:
- April’s average power price increased to £66.6/MWh (23%) vs March, driven by higher gas and carbon prices.
- As a result of warmer temperatures, transmission demand reduced by 2.1 TWh from March, to 20.8 TWh.
- Offshore and onshore wind load factors decreased by 17.1 p.p. and 13.5 p.p., respectively, resulting in lower renewables output in April.
- Although load factors for wind decreased, the increase in wholesale prices translated to a rise in capture prices to £60.2/MWh for offshore wind and £59.5/MWh for onshore wind.
