OXFORD (AURORA ENERGY RESEARCH)—Aurora Energy Research is excited to announce the upcoming Aurora Renewables Summit London 2024. Hosted in London on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, the Summit will bring together leading utilities, policymakers, investors, and other key stakeholders in the energy sector.

Under the title “Navigating choppy waters: Can the UK and Europe overcome challenges to realize renewable ambitions?”, this year’s Summit marks its 5th annual gathering, boasting an anticipated attendance of 450 participants.

The speakers lineup includes Aurora Energy Research experts and speakers including Danielle Lane, Executive Vice President and Director of Offshore Wind Development, UK & Ireland, RWE; Richard Scott, VP of Development and Construction (Onshore), JERA Nex; and Alexa Sharples, Corporate Strategy Director, Low Carbon.

Panel discussions will explore the path to achieving Net Zero objectives, addressing challenges such as grid access, curtailment, and the integration of battery storage solutions. Additionally, the Summit will examine regulatory frameworks, investment incentives, and the future of offshore wind projects amidst evolving market dynamics.

Richard Howard, Global Research Director at Aurora Energy Research, emphasised the significance of the Summit:

“We are at a crucial point in the energy transition in the UK and Europe. Governments have set hugely ambitious targets for renewables deployment, but there are significant barriers standing in the way. Arguably the biggest issues today relate to grid access and curtailment: Aurora has estimated that as much as €1.3 trillion needs to be invested in grids across Europe between now and 2040. Energy companies are evolving towards this reality, with a common solution to grid issues found in co-locating battery storage systems alongside renewables.”

The event is supported by Clarke Energy and ING.
