By January 26, 2021January 31st, 2021French RMF, Europe, Renewable Energy, Forecasts, Reports, France

This quarterly update presents our comprehensive view on the state of the French Renewables market, and includes our latest outlook on prices, production, capacity, and asset performance to 2050. Key highlights in this quarter’s update include:

  • The baseload price is forecasted to rise from 46.3€/MWh in 2020 to 47.2€/MWh in 2025 and 52.9€/MWh in 2030. Beyond 2030, the baseload price reaches 64.5€/MWh by 2040 before to go down to 54€/MWh by 2050 as additional renewable capacity enters the system
  • Relative to our previous update in October 2020, baseload prices are lower on average by 0.4€/MWh. This drop is mostly driven by the rise in the assumed €/USD rate, which lowers the gas price throughout the forecast horizon. The impact is also observed in the renewables capture prices, which fall by 0.3€/MWh on average both for onshore wind and solar PV compared to our previous update
